JULIA BOURLINA Founded her Studio in 2005 with the sole aim of providing sound ballet training in the classic vaganova tradition.

Since then, her CURRENT and former STUDENTS HAVE BEEN selected to participate in RENOWNED BALLET COMPANY SCHOOLS AND SUMMER PROGRAMS. SEVERAL HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED FOR ADVANCED STUDY AT PROFESSIONAL ACADEMIES, AND A FEW HAVE EVEN GONE ON TO SUCCESSFUL CAREERS IN DANCE.

JULIA BOURLINA ENTERed the VAGANOVA BALLET ACADEMY IN ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA AT THE AGE OF 9. DURING HER 8 YEARS OF TRAINING, SHE STUDIED UNDER THE RENOWNED KIROV BALLET MASTER, NINELLA KURGAPKINA. UPON GRADUATING AT THE TOP OF HER CLASS, SHE WAS IMMEDIATELY HIRED BY THE KIROV BALLET AND OPERA COMPANY. 

FROM 1984 TO 1996, JULIA BOURLINA PERFORMED on tour all over RUSSIA AND AROUND THE WORLD. afterwards, as an independent artist, SHE entered an intensely creative period dancing IN STAGE PRODUCTIONS BY such INTERNATIONAL DIRECTORS as JULIE TAYMOR, OLEG IGNATIEF, DAVID FREEMAN AND NATALIA VOLKOVA.

After settling in the United States in the late 90's, Julia Bourlina has focused her attention on transmitting her art to a future generation of dancers. She gained her Pilates Instructor Certification in New York State in order to incorporate a holistic approach into her ballet instruction.

Among her enduring contributions to the field are the ballet class music CD's she produced with pianist Anna Korab. The albums, entitled Perfect Class: Music for Ballet Class, have since become a much-played and well-loved presence in ballet studios around the world.

FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS, JULIA Bourlina HAS BEEN WORKING IN LOS ANGELES AS a CLASSICAL BALLET COACH, CHOREOGRAPHER, and ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF HER Eponymous BALLET STUDIO.
